UPCOMING: CONS VERSUS NOUN - CONS CLAIMS N1 BILLION AS DAMAGES

The issues between the prestigious distance learning university and its students are yet to be settled amicably and peacefully despite the fact that the university runs a programme in Peace and Conflict Resolution. This is borne out by the fact that the students body under aegis of the unofficial CONGRESS OF NOUN STUDENTS has sued the university whereupon  it claims 1 Billion Naira as damages from the university. In a document made available to our correspondent, the unofficial body claims a breach of fundamental rights, and as a result sought the following declaration and order which read an in part:

AN ORDER directing the 2nd Respondent to pay the sum of N200,000,000.00 (Two Hundred Million
Naira) only as damages to the 1st and 2nd Applicants for her illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional expulsion
of the 1st and 2nd Applicants from the University and creating awareness of same in the mass media and
thereby unnecessarily tarnishing the image, wasting the time and resources of the 1st and 2nd Applicants.

OR

AN ORDER directing the 1st Respondent to pay the sum of N200,000,000.00 (Two Hundred Million Naira) only as damages to the 1st and 2nd Applicants for its illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional expulsion of the 1st and 2nd Applicants from the University and creating awareness of same in the mass media and thereby unnecessarily tarnishing the image, wasting the time and resources of the 1st and 2nd Applicants.
